Each participant will be given a prepared kit of uprights, weavers, rims and handles. You will learn how to weave the uprights and weavers into a strong basket. Once this is dry and packed, you will weave the rim pieces and add your handle. What you will create is a beautiful, durable and practical basket. Your basket’s final dimensions will be approximately 5 inches tall and 6-9 inches wide.

No tools or experience necessary.

John will also touch on how to harvest your own black ash splints sustainably, and how to prepare them for basket making. These are centuries old, indigenous cultural practices that must be approached with learned knowledge and the respect.
