Willow Basketry; Oval Market Basket with Bark Detail (two-day course)

Come make an oval market basket with beautiful willow bark detail.
This class is open to weavers ages 16+ with previous experience weaving baskets.
You will learn:
- oval bases
- reverse pairing
- 3 rod wale
- 4 rod wale
- French rand
- bark weaving
- 4 behind 2 borders
- wrapped handles with a herringbone finish.
We will be using cultivated basketry willows grown in Ontario by Lakeshore Willows. However, the techniques gleaned over the course of the two days can also be used with wild willow, dogwood, and any other woody material that has the same long, flexible characteristic.
