In this full day workshop participants will learn the basic principles and techniques of wet felting and how to work with a mould, or resist (a barrier), to form bowls, mittens, or slippers.
You will discover the unique properties of wool fibres that allow them to interlock into felted fabric, and learn how to physically manipulate them into 3-dimensional shapes. During the process, you will have the chance to personalize your work by incorporating other fibres and materials as surface embellishments.
Wet felting is tactile, soapy, energetic, and, yes, wet. This craft, dates back to 4000 BC and the underlying principles have remained unchanged. Come learn this ancient art, with a modern twist, and feel the satisfaction of building objects from their individual fibres.
* Please note that you will be on your feet for most of the day, and physically working the fibres (rubbing, squishing, and throwing) to make felt.
