This course will help participants gain knowledge in basic chainsaw maintenance, hazard identification, felling and proper tree sectionalization. The course is taught by a certified utility arborist working in the field. With a specific focus on safety, the program will outline the basic skills needed to maintain your equipment and operate a chainsaw with minimal risk. The course is intended to build general knowledge and confidence There is no certification for participants.

Section 1
Chainsaw general knowledge and care Chainsaw safety, operation and technique. Proper chain sharpening Chainsaw troubleshooting

Section 2
Tree inspection and hazard identification. Notching and removals. Sectionalizing a downed tree, types of wood and how to avoid pinching bar.
