In this one-day willow lantern class you will have the opportunity to learn a handful of basket weaving essentials. You will:

• Learn how to weave a round basket base
• Insert stakes, that will become the foundational walls of your lantern
• Practice the very useful and practical 3 rod wale weave
• Perform a 4 behind 2 border 
• Create a twisted willow handle wrapped with a decorative God’s Eye weave

The final lantern will have open sides and measure approximately 12” tall from base to rim.

This is a beginner level workshop that will introduce you to fundamental weaving techniques.  No prior experience required. 

This course is suitable for ages 12 and up. Fine motor skills and some hand strength is required. People with arthritic hands may find working with willow to be challenging on their joints.
