Tasting the Wild; An Organoleptic Plant Journey
Half-day Workshop
Sunday September 7 (1:00pm – 5:00pm)
Instructor: Amber Westfall
“A plant’s scent is its language. Its colour communicates. In its flavour it speaks to us; not in our language, but in its.” ~Jim McDonald
In the slippery mucilage of a violet leaf, the bitter bite of dandelion or the sweetness of clover, plants speak to us. When we understand the language of their tastes, we deepen our knowledge of their therapeutic actions in the body and become more connected and effective as herbalists.
Join Amber Westfall, RH for an immersive journey into the language of plants – where taste reveals wisdom, and attuning to the senses becomes the key to understanding the gifts herbs have to offer. Through the flavors of sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy, aromatic and astringent we will explore the unique energetic properties of herbs and what they communicate to us.
Participants will be guided in a hands-on experience, engaging touch, smell and taste to connect directly with a variety of herbs and herbal preparations. This unmediated sensory exploration will unveil the relationships between phytochemistry, herbal actions, and the healing potential of plants, empowering you to work with them in a more intuitive and informed way.
