with Lene Rasmussen
This two-day workshop will offer participants the chance to make either a round basket (with or without a handle), or a large bird feeder.
Those who are new to willow basketry will learn basic, traditional weaving techniques – weaving a round base with twining, staking up, creating a border design and adding an optional handle (or two).
Those who have experience working with willow will be able to explore and practice more advanced techniques including ropecoil, fitching, and slewing.
If choosing to make a round basket, participants will be able to choose the shape and size of basket they would like.
For the bird feeder, the instructor will provide the base template (the very bottom of the feeder where the bird seed goes) and the finished size of the feeder is approximately 18”(tall) x 24”(wide). Different weaving techniques will be explored in building the bottom and tops of the feeder.
