We have been receiving requests to run these willow basketry classes again. If you would like to take one of these classes get in touch and we will add you to the willow list. Once we have scheduled new dates, those on the list will be notified first.
Tatza Bread Basket or Willow Tray (One-day class)
In this full day workshop, we will work with willow, willow bark and/or other natural materials. Participants will have the choice of making either a Polish Bread Basket (a flat basket), called a Tatza basket, or a simple willow tray.
Learn the traditional technique of building a willow frame and the specific weaves that add on to this frame to create the finished piece. If time allows, you may choose to make a second piece in the same style.

Beginners will learn basic, traditional weaving techniques such as weaving the round base using twine, staking up, and creating a border design. Those who have experience working with willow will be able to choose to explore and practice more advanced techniques including ropecoil, fitching, and slewing.
